Nimble Fingers- Vocational Training
SI Calcutta commenced the Nimble Fingers project in March 2016 .The programme is a vocational training course in dressmaking/tailoring conducted for the senior students of Sujata Devi Vidyamandir, a school for underprivileged girls in Kolkata. The objective of the programme is to introduce girls on the threshold of adulthood to income generating activities. Singer India Ltd is providing the syllabus and certification for the course . This support by a reputed organisation has added credibility to the training programme. Students are exposed to stitching a variety of garments, and if they are interested, they will get the opportunity for advanced training from SIL after successful completion of this programme.
